A Midwife and Educationist, Mrs Emelia Doku-Attuah, has urged pregnant women to prioritize antenatal care in order to avoid developing anaemia in pregnancy complications.
She said pregnancy and anaemia mimic symptoms; thus, it is easy for pregnant women to mistake one for the other.
According to the midwife, pregnant women are made to undergo several tests during antenatal visits, including checking haemoglobin levels, which reveals whether a pregnant woman is suffering from anaemia or not.
She said anaemia during pregnancy is large as a result of iron deficiency.
She, therefore, urged pregnant women to visit the hospital with their symptoms; eat balanced diets and avoid seeking medical advice from the internet.
She mentioned frequent dizziness, headaches, weakness and tiredness, low immunity, and experiencing regular cold feet and hands as some symptoms of anaemia.
Mrs Emelia Doku- Attuah, made these comments on Healthy Morning, speaking with the host, Nelly Awula Mensah.
